Are you standing in the shade…or dancing in the sunshine?

Trees in the sunshine

I saw this amazing tree in the full sunshine and it brought a huge smile to my face. Such a wonderful day, such a brilliantly bright blue sky. It was the sort of sky that only a crisp day can bring – it was all very windy so the sky was kept clear too. The chill in the air a little more intense than the low temperature would have us believe. The tree was also blowing around, and without the leaves to constrain the movement of each branch, it was such a pleasure to hear the sound of the wind as it whipped through the twigs.

After taking a few picture I walked on my way. Just luxuriating in the sunshine and brightness of this special day.

It also got me thinking about how great it was to be in the sunshine, because, after about a kilometre, I was cast into the shade by an old high wall. A wall that has been weathered over the centuries it has stood. In the shade it cast I could still see the bright blue sky, but it was a lot colder than where I had been a few minutes earlier. It also struck me that it was, on this day, much more preferable to be in the sunshine. It was then that this question hit me like a cold arctic blast:

  • Am I standing in the shade, or am I dancing in the sunshine with what I do?

Wow!! As we start a new year that is a question I am going work with in my business and in my life. I will also use with others.

Now what is your answer to that question….?

My best wishes,

Peter

PS If you are standing in the shade, yet would like to dance in the sunshine and need a guide to help you, do we need to speak?
