I was delighted last week to be able to pick up my award for the highly coveted Director of the Year award. This is made by the Institute of Directors. Sadly I was not the overall winner in my category but I was delighted to be runner up to a brilliant organisation that exports to the world, and has a highly respected global brand name – so a real achievement and a day to be proud from my point of view.
One of the reasons I was ‘in the frame’ was due to my contribution as a Trustee and former Chair of the Meningitis Trust. This is a wonderful charity that provides support and advice for anyone who has been touched by the dreadful disease, meningitis.
A timely reminder for any reader is to be aware of the symptoms – the disease does not discriminate and it is always wise to have access to information. A simple symptoms check is easy just by following this link to the Meningitis Website. By the way, if you get absorbed by all the stories and amazing information on this site, I won’t get upset if you abandon this article…..just this once!
I must say after so many years in business it is great to be involved and make some space from my busy schedule to put something back into the community, into organisations such as the Trust.
Now an easy question – what are you putting back?
It does not take long and at some stages in our lives we reach a point where there is time. I hope you create the time when you reach that stage too. If you are not sure – perhaps now is a good time to stop and consider!
My best wishes,
Peter
