A café revisited – working as a team

For the sharp-eyed who have been following my articles you may notice a familiar pattern with a previous one I have written. Familiar on two counts: one – it is the same patterned tablecloth; two, it is the delights of a café.

I was recently on my travels and enjoying an evening, and most of the following day with family. On the Friday I had organised a meeting with some fellow Master NLP Practitioners, so we could review some advanced strategy work. Now that was an interesting day! It has led to a discussion on aspects of Insights Deeper Discovery that will be the topic of a future day. I then journeyed on to stay with my

Perspective: enjoy the moment come shine or rain

I was recently in Scotland and took a little time out from a busy day to walk down the beach called West Sands at St Andrews. It is where part of the film Chariots of Fire was taken. It seems like the weather decided to make my visit the perfect recall of the film too, as it was similar to that of the film.

As a former competitive athlete it is a film I remember, and the story resonated so well – and still does.

The picture I have taken looks back towards the town. I was caught by the imagery of the spindrift catching the wind and creating such an amazingly atmospheric scene. Just wonderful!

I

Fiery Red and Earth Green

I was recently in London at an Insights Discovery conference where we were expanding our knowledge and developing our skills with the wonderful colourful world that this instrument provides. As a seasoned Practitioner of the amazing model that helps develop high performaing individuals, teams and organisations it is always in the back of my mind, even when I am out for a stroll.

This day was no different but my mind was well occupied with other thoughts as I strode along. And then, a simple turn of my head and I spotted these phone boxes and the colour energies of what we call Fiery Red and Earth Green sprang to the forefront of my mind. Hence the

Are you still making a splash in your business or life?

I have passed these fountains numerous times and love the sense of occasion they make in the world-known Trafalgar Square. I was on my way to a meeting on this lovely day to speak with a new potential client.

The weather was warm, the square unusually quiet – in spite of being the half-term vacation for the schools. It was a change to be able to slowly stroll along and stare at the majestic statues, and the Column with a statue of Nelson overseeing the world spinning below – a little slower than usual.

All to frequently I have been walking through the square, being minded of all of the people, and trying not to get in

Do you look beyond the cover?

I have just started to read a new book I purchased – it seemed interesting from the cover and I have also read a couple of other books by the same author.

Now two things struck me – one is the fact the cover was the thing that caught my attention, encourage me to pick it up, have look through, and then buy.

As I am in the process of bringing another one of my own books to market it made me realize that I should not play cheaply. It is better to leave the design of the cover to people who know what catches attention better than I do. Also, with the demise of bookshops and

What is inspiring you?

I was driving along the other day when I passed these wonderful yellow fields. At this time of year in Great Britain they are a common sight, but no less wonderful when one can see them on a sunny day.

I pulled over a took a few pictures to capture the moment, and also in the rush of life to remind myself that sometimes just to ‘stand and stare’ is a delight. A delight that sometimes I fail to take as there is the next item on the agenda pressing us forward.

Yellow is the colour of the Inspirer in Insights Discovery, the Profiling system that I love so much as it can, and does, help people

Are you starting to wither?

As usual, a part of my own plan is to embark upon some new personal development each year. All part of the brilliant opportunity to maintain lifelong learning. We are so lucky to be able to create this opportunity, when so many people in other parts of the world are in awe of what we have available.

It is a sad truth that so many choose not to embrace this opportunity – ignoring the insights that can be revealed, not releasing the discovery of new learning that can be made if we make time to tickle our interest buds. Perhaps we may stimulate even deeper discovery by revitalizing our own creative streak. A streak that has been

Are you standing in the shade…or dancing in the sunshine?

I saw this amazing tree in the full sunshine and it brought a huge smile to my face. Such a wonderful day, such a brilliantly bright blue sky. It was the sort of sky that only a crisp day can bring – it was all very windy so the sky was kept clear too. The chill in the air a little more intense than the low temperature would have us believe. The tree was also blowing around, and without the leaves to constrain the movement of each branch, it was such a pleasure to hear the sound of the wind as it whipped through the twigs.

After taking a few picture I walked on my way.

Are you a player or still a spectator?

I was attending a two-day conference in December, and my bedroom I discovered, overlooked a stadium. It was quite odd going to my room in the early evening, after I had checked in to the hotel, to open the curtains and see the ground. For some reason it made me feel a little unsettled.

I didn’t ponder on this very much and got ready for the evening event, and went on my way. In the morning I tend to rise quite early, so opened the curtains, and whilst it was still dark outside I could see the pitch and seats, through the darkness. Still that unsettled feeling.

I headed off for an early breakfast and when I

A new year beckons

As the old year draws to a close it is a symbolic time of new thoughts for a new year, and new actions to create new opportunities. But I always feel that it is important to reflect on the old year, and the many things that have happened. Some good, some challenging.

It is often the more challenging things that have stretched us out of our comfort zones and made us develop, albeit not always appreciating this at the time.

So as the embers of the old year slowly cool, do take a little time to think back – and if it helps, grab a diary and flick right back to January. Or perhaps look at the
