By Peter Johnson, on September 14th, 2012 | Comments are closed I have recently been updating my computer and an interesting challenge it has been too. I love the advances of technology and all that this helps us achieve in our world of work and play. I must admit though, that with each major step there is some pain before the gain. Merging the information held on a number of different devices, including some quite old but favoured laptops, has been a little more exacting than planned.
The move has gone well….with the support of people who are a little more familiar with the processes of technology. But the new equipment is a great step forward. It reminded me of the need to sometimes let go of the

On an earlier post I mentioned that I had been in Switzerland on a development programme which I was both enjoying and felt very privileged to be part.
Well, all of the hard work has paid off – it has been confirmed that I am the first person to be accredited in Insights Deeper Discovery…..in the world, so the first Insights Deeper Discovery Licensed Practitioner! Now this is a wonderful honour and a great tribute to the people who have been on the journey with me.
So what is Insights Deeper Discovery?
It is totally based on the work of Carl Jung, the Swiss psychologist – and one of the reasons I was in Switzerland. We

By Peter Johnson, on August 8th, 2012 | Comments are closed Today, I had a very kind and well meaning email from a French gentleman who usually enjoys my blog posts. He had noted that my spelling and grammar was detracting from his concentration on my words….this time not really appreciating any wisdom!
Well, I must admit it was a poor show by me – and just in case you feel the urge to go and find the offending post, and rub salt into a wound, I can assure you that the clumsy words and typing have been corrected. I am sure there will be other errors both past and future, but this post did cap the lot…..and by some measure!!
One of the things I love about

By Peter Johnson, on August 5th, 2012 | Comments are closed The 2012 Olympic Games are in full swing and what an awesome spectacle it is turning out to be. It is just amazing to see the competitors showcase their brilliance and put all of their effort into the events that we see. The excitement of the events, the fantastic venues that have been created for sports people from all over the world to partake……and yesterday, 4 August 2012, turning out to be the best medal day for Britain since 1908 with 6 gold medals. Just brilliant!
Looking at the TV coverage it is so easy to forget all of the training and sacrifices that are required to even get to the games. The extra special ingredient

By Peter Johnson, on July 30th, 2012 | Comments are closed I was delighted last week to be able to pick up my award for the highly coveted Director of the Year award. This is made by the Institute of Directors. Sadly I was not the overall winner in my category but I was delighted to be runner up to a brilliant organisation that exports to the world, and has a highly respected global brand name – so a real achievement and a day to be proud from my point of view.
One of the reasons I was ‘in the frame’ was due to my contribution as a Trustee and former Chair of the Meningitis Trust. This is a wonderful charity that provides support and advice for

By Peter Johnson, on July 10th, 2012 | Comments are closed It is interesting what happens when one ‘lets go’ for a while and we allow our imagination to soar. I am a keen, albeit rather spasmodic, ‘painter’. Well, I enjoy playing with colour and seeing what surfaces rather than a true artist. It is only in recent years that I have migrated to oil paints and I must say I do have a lot of fun with the texture and way the material works – it is also much more forgiving than water colour.
I was driving along the other day and went past the end of a lane where I had enjoyed a day in a studio, playing with colours. The works that you can

By Peter Johnson, on July 6th, 2012 | Comments are closed I was out by the river recently early on a delightful summer day. The trees were lush and green and all was at peace in my world. As I walked along I was ‘followed’ down the river bank by some swans – quietly going about their business of moving from where they had been overnight to some place were I am sure they knew breakfast awaited.
They are truly gracious birds that when all is calm are serene and well composed. As you can see in the picture this fellow was well groomed and certainly seemed at peace in its world. Shortly after i took this picture three of the swans decided they wished to move

By Peter Johnson, on June 30th, 2012 | Comments are closed This pair of brightly coloured footwear came to my attention whilst I was in Switzerland on a development programme. The owner, a delightful young man was very engaging and we discussed the vibrancy of the colours. They certainly break convention for normal business attire. In the case of these shoes they started a great conversation too.
One of the things I am known for are my speeches on first impressions and the impact that we make – indeed there is a special report on this subject in my website Products section. I sometimes tie this in with Insights Discovery – the behavioural preferencing tool that I so love. This tool can help clients take great strides in

By Peter Johnson, on June 12th, 2012 | Comments are closed I was in Switzerland recently on a new development programme adding to my knowledge of Insights Discovery – an amazing opportunity. Made all the more special as I am one of the first people to experience this new work….more of that all in good time!
My bedroom overlooked Lake Zurich, and the weather was crystal clear as you can see from the picture. Switzerland is known for the cuckoo clock, albeit I did not see one whilst I was there. The one clock I did see was on the church close to my room, which had two faces visible from where I stood. This picture was taken early in the morning, even though with travelling and

By Peter Johnson, on June 1st, 2012 | Comments are closed We look forward to the sixtieth anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II this June and celebrate a fantastic achievement with her. Her dedication and service to people has been huge and touched so many people in a positive way across the world.
I was out walking on New Year’s day and noticed the inscription on the monument that you see in the picture. It reads:
“Erected in commemoration of the sixtieth year of Queen Victoria’s reign.”
So long service is not something new to the Royal family. It makes us appreciate that some people whether through birth or sheer commitment to a cause place the importance of their service above all else.
So as
