What is the right attitude?

There is a lot of criticism of the youth of today. Well, I am here to put the record straight. If you wish to believe the fiction so often written elsewhere you can stop now. If you wish to read some inspirational truth read on….

I specialise in individual, team and business development. I write, speak and publish. I am a mentor of Insights Discovery and the worlds first accredited Insights Deeper Discovery practitioner. A Director of the Year award winner. I mention this as I am really proud of the opportunities I have been given. It also means I meet some really successful people, some are clients.

I generally work with adults, but quite recently I invited a school to one of my events and rather than send a teacher along they asked if they could send their head girl and head boy. I was delighted, albeit a little unsure how they would fit with the remainder of the group who were all at work. As soon as I met them it was clear they would be great. They were well dressed, very polite, highly social and easily mixed with a group of adults over an introductory coffee. During the event they contributed, got involved, made very good comments and asked some great questions.

Over lunch they were self assured, very respectful and clearly keen to learn and share.

The note I sent to the school said that they were a credit to themselves, their school and their families. If our future is in their hands I am certainly going to sleep easy at night. I also suspect that whilst they were the head girl and boy, they were representative of their fellow students too. It just shows that given the right circumstances the calibre of the young can shine through.

Just in case you think these were pupils from an expensive private school I can assure you this was NOT the case.

So let us celebrate the fantastic talent that we have. Let’s do what we can to encourage and keep their fire of learning and enthusiasm burning so that all of our futures may shin bright.

What are the special ingredients they have? I am sure one is a great attitude.

My best wishes

Peter
