Adding colour to life….

It is interesting what happens when one ‘lets go’ for a while and we allow our imagination to soar. I am a keen, albeit rather spasmodic, ‘painter’. Well, I enjoy playing with colour and seeing what surfaces rather than a true artist. It is only in recent years that I have migrated to oil paints and I must say I do have a lot of fun with the texture and way the material works – it is also much more forgiving than water colour.

I was driving along the other day and went past the end of a lane where I had enjoyed a day in a studio, playing with colours. The works that you can see in the picture are not all mine, many are by the artist, Louis Parsons, who was guiding us during the day. And what a delight it was too, to be away from the business of the day and make time to stretch our creativity a little –  in my case in a new direction and a new insightful discovery too. I was well pleased with the results and left feeling far more relaxed and vibrant because the colours had lifted my soul and brought a new dimension to the day.

Whilst this event was a while ago it was lovely to be reminded by that road junction and the trip made on that special day.

It also got me thinking about a few things as I motored on my way. Things such as this:

  • Are we taking enough ‘time out’ to re-energise ourselves?
  • When was the last time we enjoyed some truly creative time?
  • How much more vibrancy does colour add to our lives – and are we adding enough colours into our days?
  • When was the last time that you passed somewhere but were too busy to allow time to draw on your memory bank. The memory bank which on that day I had placed a large credit?

Hmmm – it sure got me thinking. It sure got me wanting to feel the excitement of creating something new. It sure got me realising that some more colour in life would bring a bigger smile!

I hope this short reminder has got you thinking too.

My best wishes,

Peter
